Just wondering everybody's methods of correcting chine.. I hvent been able to get out to learn it myself.. So thought i would listen to methods then have a good list of things to try.. I try the quick steering adjustment but i only make it worse.. Only thing i can do is back out o the throttle to drop the bow and bring it back up again. It isnt a setup issue because it doesnt do it fr everybody

If you are making it worse than chances are you're either making your corrections too big/not enough, or your going with the walk.

The idea is to offset the chine and balance the pad. So if the boat is dropping to the left, you make the correction to the right.

Hydraulic steering helps too, i remember the Javelin was pretty fun without hydraulic steering.

Its the first upgrade on my list Cody... It doesnt steer hard just not fun hanging off of it when you dont have to..

Get Yourself a Merc Verado; it has power steering alike your car..... you'll say what chine walk  Happy Dance

I know the verado has the steering lester has a few of these steering units at his place.. But something about the verado that doesn't appeal to me.. They look cool and probably work well to but wouldnt want to rebuild superchargers or tired engines from boost.. Plus they are quite heavy i hear.

It's simple, spend more time in the seat and work your way up to it. Drive with someone else who can already handle it and learn from them what they are doing.

Seat time is the cure.

It is slower Gary.. It chines in the high 50's low 60's im not going any faster until i can drive it.. I am going out saturday for a bit so hopefully i can figure it out a little.. Plus does anybody have a boat steering wheel? My boat has a chev truck steering wheel complete with srs airbag system

Trim out until it starts walking and trim back some, learn to drive at those settings and slowly trim out more as you gain experience. When it starts to chine trim down first before getting out of the gas if needed.

You can also try a gentle left hand turn to help get the feel for it.

Watch the bow, it will always fall off of pad to the starboard first, when this happens move the wheel to the port to keep it on pad. The steering wheel movements are minor but steady from side to side to keep it on pad. As soon as you move the wheel to the left and the boat levels out start the movement to the right as this all takes place quickly. I have given the same basic advice to several boaters here, have driven with a few more to show them what I mean and some of them already go wot no problem. Average guy can master it within 4 or 5 hours if the boat is capable and set up correctly. If not it will take longer but it will come, it is all about feel and anticipating what the boat will do.

Chining will be worse if your motor is too low, if there is too much play in the steering or motor mounts etc. Also, if the boat is designed more for speed than handling then the chine walk will always be there, you just need to get used to stopping it before it happens. You cannot drive through chine walk, you need to know how to stop it before it gets bad.

I will give it a try... This boat doesnt ride bad or anything.. It rides the same as any wide vee hull it just has a tunnel on either side.. I will take a picture of the hull and the pad and show you the shape..
