Chain Pickerel Lakes
« on: November 29, 2011, 06:11:42 PM »
Hey folks, could use your help and information with a project to update the ongoing public list of chain pickerel populations within Nova Scotia. The intent here is learn of new lakes/rivers that have them and use that data moving forward as we find new ways to to control and or manage this fish specie.

Here is the current known list as of summer 2011. If you know of another lake or stream/river where pickerel are present, please add to this thread. Please list the lake name, if known, and the grid of the lake from the NS map book, that would be very useful.

I thank you for yhour help.

I was very surprised to hear from a local last year about the Kennetcook River. I've been fishing it for trout for 6 years now and have not caught one. They said they're were down stream below Kennetcook proper. While wading the river upstream for the fun of it 3 years back in mid summer when levels were low I could see small fish that somewhat resembled a pickle but I still couldn't idenify it. Wasn't sure if it was some kind of minnow or juvenile. First thought it might be stickleback but confirmed it wasn't once I got the books out.

Not that it really matters, but wasnt LRL, more like 2007 and not or is it a different LRL?
