Impending Weather & Mushamush Lake Event
« on: July 02, 2014, 01:59:55 PM »
Hope everyone is enjoying their Canada Day celebrations, it is a nice warm one so soak it up while you can.

The weather forecasts vary greatly but they all share one thing in common, we are going to get very wet and blown around this coming weekend. Tropical Storm Arthur is on schedule to become a hurricanetomorrow morning off of the Carolinas and ride up the coast. It is not slated to stay long as a hurricane but it is expected to deliver a very windy and very wet Saturday, as much as 50+mm on Saturday. With so much uncertainty, there is not much we can do this far in advance for you, however, the executive wanted to inform you all though that we will follow the storm and subsequent forecasting. If something happens that we need to postpone our event due to weather, we will make that decision on Friday, informing the membership of any needed changes at all. Again, at this point it is everything as usual but given the fact that we place our mutual safety above everything else, we considered it wise to send out this cautionary emailtoday. Please check your emails on Friday evening, we will send a note then as to our final thoughts.

Happy Canada day, we’ll chat again later.

FYI. The above post is a copy of an e-mailer sent to the SSBM membership yesterday. We are watching the forecasts and will make a call on Friday.

Although things don't look good at the moment, I am hoping it will be fine enough to still hold the tournament.  With my work schedule, this will be my last SSBM tourney this year that I will be home for.  Here's hoping it's a go.

If the chatter/forecasts for this storm keep going the way they have so far every six hours changing for the worse, we may be forced into a decision before Friday. Don't really remember having hurricanes up here in early July before. Will be interesting couple days watching the forecasts change.
