We are looking for any questions, comments, concerns or suggestions that you believe need to be raised with the NSDAF related directly to smallmouth bass management here in Nova Scotia. The club reps and stakeholders will soon be having a session with the key staff there and we are looking to ensure that we are offering up substantive and quality feedback for our bass fishery moving forward.

You can post here or send me a PM if you wish, thanks folks.

My comment is one of the biggest risks to a good/great bass fishery is people keeping and killing the best fish in the lake, both legally and illegally.
It's great that bass have been accepted by more people, but the popularity does have a negative side. Trophy lakes like Lake Mush-a-Mush and the Mersey River get hit hard, with people catching and illegally keeping big bass with considerable regularity.
If DOF could do a couple of patrols by boat during the spawning season, it's pretty much guaranteed that they will be handing out some tickets and making arrests.
